Conservative first

Unchecked government expansion limits our freedom as individuals and hinders the growth of the businesses our state’s economy relies on to thrive. Kansans from all walks of life are impacted in very real ways and I am dedicated to standing up for people just like you. During my time in office, I have worked to limit bureaucratic intervention in our day-to-day lives and make government more efficient. I believe in the importance of defending life, strengthening the family, and protecting our most cherished rights. I will continue fighting for you in Topeka.

Campaigns take work. So does governing. Our state needs leadership that understands our communities and puts Kansas first. As Majority Leader, I worked to achieve many things for Kansans and voters showed their support for our efforts by sending another Republican supermajority back to the Kansas House. But the work goes on. As Speaker of the House, I need your help to share our current successes and future goals with our neighbors. Together, we can ensure that Kansas continues to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family!

This morning The Kansas House of Representatives unanimously passed substantial property, income, and Social Security tax relief for the people of Kansas by a vote of 123 to 0.The legislative tax relief plan eliminates the bottom rate of 3.1%; collapsing the tax structure to a dual rate and giving significant relief to lower and middle-income earners. The plan places a high priority on providing broad-based property tax relief by decreasing the state mill levy by 2 mills and exempting the first $100,000 of home value for property owners. Additionally, the plan eliminates the income tax on Social Security and takes the food sales tax to zero on July 1 of this year.

The Republican-led House of Representatives unanimously passed substantial property, income, and Social Security tax relief for the people of Kansas by a vote of 123 to 0. Additionally, the plan eliminates the income tax on Social Security and takes the food sales tax to zero on July 1 of this year.Kansas Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins responded to this win for Kansas taxpayers with the following:“This is a huge step toward getting relief back into the hands of Kansans where it belongs and that’s all because of the hard work of the Republican-led House Tax Committee under the incredible leadership of Chairman Adam Smith. This is a true compromise tax relief plan with real bipartisan support. The Governor should sign this bill because it delivers the broad-based property, income, and Social Security tax relief that Kansans want and need while upgrading to a more regionally competitive tax structure.”#ksleg
